All bear hunts are primarily the spot-and-stalk method, with some baiting if necessary. Opportunity and success have been excellent during the past 12 years, with clients harvesting a variety of color phases of bears, such as chocolate, cinnamon, red as well as black. Bear hides are in their best shape in the spring. We begin our 6-day, true western bear hunts by packing up the packstring at the trailhead and riding into our wilderness camp. The camp is fully equipped with wall tents, cots, foam pads and woodstoves for your comfort. The Horse Creek drainage, which flows into the mighty Salmon River in the heart of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, has served us well for bear hunting. This area is also winter grounds for elk, deer, mountain goat, moose and more. With the warm spring days, wildflowers are blooming, trees are budding, the grass is greening up and wildlife is in abundance. We encourage you to contact any of our references for more information.
